Easternlight Zimik, born in 1992, is from Ukhrul district of Manipur and
is a knitwear student from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi.
He is passionate about design and illustration and considers them to be part of
his life.
1. How did you start making
illustrations?
-
It all started from my school days, when I used to doodle
a lot on my books for which I got a lot of scolding too.
I never
took any course in illustrations before joining NIFT.
2. Why Fashion?
-Generally People are very confused about
Fashion. In my view, it is about
everything in our life. I don’t come from a fashion oriented family but it is
natural to me.
3. How is your life in Delhi different
from your home?
-They are two different worlds. One is Delhi with which I share a love
and hate relationship. It is an extreme place but where I can translate my
dream into reality. Ukhrul, is another world, where the people are down to
earth and appreciate fashion.
4. What do you think about your style of
Illustration?
-
I
am exploring my style but most of the time my illustrations are a link to a
world of fantasy. I am proud of my work as it is a brainchild of my mind.
5. Who is your inspiration?
-
I am very fond of Iben Hoj and Steven Stipelman’s works but when it comes to
inspiration, Illustrators are not as inspiring as fantasies and dreams are.
6. Where do you see yourself in 10
years?
-In ten years, I see myself working as a fashion illustrator.
thank you!
